Our Mission
Hup (clap) HEY! is dedicated to inspiring youth to reach for their highest potential, to foster community, and to nurture the well-being of all participants through a unique blend of music and circus arts education and performance.
Hup (clap) HEY! was formed in 2018 by Jason Burnstein and Elena Orsak as a means to share their passion and belief in the important life lessons learned from circus arts and performance. They have travelled extensively to Mexico and Costa Rica offering their educational services and creating top notch performances that celebrate every performer and engage local communities.
The HCH team is a family affair, with daughters Mayla (18), Tiley (9), and Quinn (8) making up an integral part of the international company. By showing up as a family and contributing to the performing, teaching, and sharings, they hope to encourage other families to do the same, developing a love for circus through participation.
Our Vision
We aim to improve the lives of all participants by utilizing the circus arts and performance as a means of empowerment.
There are so many wonderful lessons to be learned from an introduction to circus arts, including important life skills such as finding balance, strengthening determination and perseverance, developing hand eye coordination, resilience, creativity, strength, flexibility, teamwork, self confidence, and so much more!
We believe strongly in the idea of “circus fun for everyone!” and have created a scholarship fund that supports this mission. Our dream is to bring our love of circus arts to children all over the globe regardless of their race, religion, identity or financial status.
We currently offer programming in both our home town of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Nosara, Costa Rica in the Nicoya Peninsula. Since 2018 we have been manifesting our vision with offerings in the Nosara area. These have included after school programming, summer and winter camps, free workshops to the local community, performances and more!
Want to support our scholarship fund? We’d greatly appreciate the support.
